Thanks for the video Mark. I have been using Gillette cartridge razors (the likes of Gillette proglide razor) for over a decade but recently become aware of the merits of safety razors (closer shaves, less irritation, more economical, less ingrown hairs, more eco friendly, etc). I was considering getting Gillette proglide power (never used the power variant) but now am also considering getting a safety razor. I am thinking of purchasing a safety razor to try it out. Since I'm new to safety razors, which safety razor would you recommend? Also found there's single edge safety razor and double edge safety razor, what might you recommend to a newbie?

I just watched your video, I see it’s been a few years since it was posted..but I wanted to thank you..I’m 40 years old and have been shaving a looooong time, but I wanted to try the traditional route..so I went to phoenix shaving and got set up..but some of the things I didn’t know exactly the purpose etc..some things I needed and didn’t realize til my first few shaves lol..anyway I just wanted to thank you and let you know your video is still out here getting men on the right path and doing it right!

Another kind of way to find travel case or bag for using as luggage for shaving items and toiletries is look in stores like Marshalls, TJMaxx, Ross. For improvising packing within the travel bag or travel case is, re-use certain plastic food packages. I made use of a flat tub-like plastic container with a lid to hold a razor (double edge, disassembled) and a firm piece of moldable shaving soap. The tub itself also serves as a lathering bowl. I believe the tub I tried this for was originally an 8 ounce net weight package of pitted green olives.

What a difference 4 years makes. Brush is twice what you paid now. That's too bad. Doing my 2nd shave with my 6S, on 5 days' growth later.

In my opinion - this razor is crap. I tried different blades with the same ugly result. I put it into the trash bin after demolishing it with my hammer. This razor deserved it because the man who created it was drunk. I should believe to Russian blogger ... Then I got a Wilkinson sword Razor and It was amazing!!!!

Ahh, looks like a Gillette Super Blue (or whatever is made in India) head that has not been logo stamped, I believe that is all steel. Then they add a cheap steel handle. Should be pretty nice.

Hey Mark, another great video. I was actually the person you were interviewing when the other gentleman found the iced coffee splash. I also had picked up the soap at the meeting but have been unable to find the splash so I grabbed a bottle right after you. I do absolutely love this scent and bet you would find that the soap does have much more of a menthol kicked. If you do a hot water shave. I am also a huge fan of the leaf twig razor. I had one in chrome and black, but had been looking for the Barry blue for about six months before they finally briefly re-released it so I think you’ve got the best color. The next time you use this razor, I would suggest snapping a feather blade in half and trying that. I rarely use feathers for the same reason that everyone else Does, however I found that in this particular razor it really tamed the feather and provided an amazingly close and comfortable shave. Couldn’t believe it was a feather. Please forgive any typos as I was dictating this comment and hope you have a great week.

Now you know why I love ice water shaving. I tell ya, put the head of the razor in a little cup with ice cubes and water, it really keeps the razor gliding around like an ice cube. Cold water shaving all the way!!! ❤

Great shave Mark. The first time I used Ice Coffee The menthol really kicked in. Since then I must have gotten use to the menthol because it does not feel as strong. Sterling came out this month with some of their regular scents mentholated. I am trying to find the email with the info. I will try and email you with the info. As you said menthol is great for the hot summer months. Glad you liked your shave. Have a great week. 👍

Great shave Mark! Iced Coffee sounds like a great scent. I have roughly 5 Stirling soaps and they are an amazing value and perform excellent. I only use tallow for my head shaves. As for the Twig, that razor introduced me to wetshaving! Now well over a year later I stick to my DE’s, my favorite being my Yates 921-M paired with an AccuForge blade. Shaving perfection!

Dovo platinum blades are great. Depending on your beard that can go for multiple shaves. I can get 6-7 shaves from a blade. Sweet spot for me is 3rd thru 5th shaves. Dovo blades are a little pricey but the longevity can offset the price.

Mark,have you tried the king c Gillette blades made in china in the white tuck? They are smooth!

G'day Mark. Great 3MB (Tuesday May 14 in Melbourne). Just heard you talk about Jimmy Vs experience with a Rex Ambassador. I had a similar initial experience with both it & a polished ss Konsul (that's really nice to look at). Persistence, perfection of technique, especially around the chin & on the either side of lower lip dictated a rethink for a guy who's starting to get on a bit. Sensitive skin in those areas now. I didn't so much have to adjust the setting on either razor but to go even lighter still in those areas and, as you would attest to, make sure the skin's well hydrated/lathered before blade attack. Again as you would say don't re-work the area but either relather or simply wait for the next lathered pass. I hope that makes sense. It worked for both razors; the ambassador yesterday with PAA doppelganger oxblood (marvelous stuff/scent) lathered up in a dreamscape. Lather absolutely everywhere!! Almost walking in it. The blade being a Gillette Wilkinson Sword. 3 clean passes with warm, not cold, water (late Autumn here). Lots of tingling but no stinging from the alum. No weepers. Perfection in my book. Razor settings for both were sub 4, 3 & then 2. My PAA soap collection starting to look like a library. I went back to DE razor shaving, after years of using a Gillette cartridge, about 16 months ago. Having fun!
